Tuesday December 2, 2008 Global Green hosted their annual Gorgeous & Green party and fashion show. The event took place at The Bentley Reserve, formerly the Federal Reserve in an Francisco. The Bentley is a LEED certified conference center and reception venue hosting parties, weddings and other events.

Kate Bosworth hosted the event along with Daphne Zuniga and Elliott Yamin. Kate is a supporter of Global Green and is optimistic about the amount of progress that has been made, “The more I learn about how far we have come, the more I am inspired and grateful to be a part of Global Green to help find solutions and to inspire other people.” Global Green is the American branch of Green Cross International. Global Green USA and Green Cross International focus on three of the greatest challenges facing humanity: eliminating weapons of mass destruction, ensuring access to clean water for all of humanity, and combating global warming.

Kate wore a dress by Phillip Lim. The design came from his regular Spring collection but was custom greened for the event at the request of Kate. “I told him I really liked this dress, but I know he has a green line, so I asked if it was possible to make it green and he said absolutely. This is some hemp, some organic silk, recycled zippers, and it’s been hand-dyed in natural dyes. What’s so great about it is a lot of people think green clothing can be boring or granola-ish. The reason I loved it is it shows how you can make an interesting design 100 percent green.”

The fashion show exhibited the biggest labels currently in eco fashion. The list includes: Bahar Shahpar, Cari Borja, Del Forte Denim, Eco Citizen Boutique, EDUN, John Patrick Organic, Juleselin, Lara Miller, Larsen Grey, Linda Loudermilk, Loomstate, Loyale, Lily Achatz, Livity, Sara Shepherd, Stewart+Brown, Thomas-Ray Eccles. Shoes by Charmone, Cri de Coeur, and Olsen Haus.

The party was green from floor to ceiling with food from O Organics & Cavallo Point and cocktails from VeeV and Square One Organic Vodka. There was wine from Newton Vineyard, Boisset Family Estates and Iron Horse and beer from MateVeza. Also providing refreshments was FOUR, EcoloBlue, Bionade, LIVE, Numi Tea and Thanksgiving Coffee. Transportation was provided by PlanetTran Hybrid car service and participating hotels included Fairmont San Francisco Green Suite and Kimpton EarthCare.

What an event. We hope everyone that attended was inspired to continue their efforts of caring for our Earth and thanks to Global Green and everyone involved for organizing this event.
